Salsa Spectacular

Both young and old dancers alike dressed up elegantly to participate in the  “Salsa Spectacular” Friday night at the International Center sponsored by the University Activities Board.  The event was a collaboration between UAB and La Casa, a student group that hosts many smaller Spanish events such as movies, dances and Spanish-speaking gatherings. Their efforts drew more than 400 people who danced to music by Orquesta Ritmo, a genuine salsa band with members from Cuba, Puerto Rico, as well as gringos, said a laughing Mike Eyia, the band’s director. -Agnes Spieszny
