Movies to make you forget love
By Jennifer Marinelli
Have your plans for this Valentine’s Day been left woefully open? Do you despise Feb. 14 in general? We all know that Valentine’s Day can be kind of a drag for single parties, so make a date with your DVD player. These ten films are guaranteed to make the holiday the furthest thing from your mind.
10. “Psycho”
There is nothing quite like taking in a slasher film to mirror one’s feelings about the day of love. Do yourself a favor and watch the original Hitchcock film. The 1998 remake with Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche doesn’t do the 1960 classic justice.
9. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”
She said “no” to dinner and a movie on V-Day? Laugh it off with King Arthur and his knights on their journey to find the legendary grail.
8. “Food, Inc.”
After you take in this documentary about food production in the United States, a candlelit dinner will be the last thing on your to-do list.
7. “The Wizard of Oz”
Feeling nostalgic for childhood bliss? Walk down memory lane on a yellow brick road. Enjoy this completely romance-free Hollywood classic.
6. “Inglourious Basterds”
The master of action, Quentin Tarantino, directed this masterpiece of a film about a group of renegade soldiers on a mission to kill as many Nazis as possible. This film beats “The Notebook” any day.
5. “Jennifer’s Body”
If you can stand to watch Megan Fox butcher her lines and are feeling particularly aggressive toward an ex, this is the film for you. Fox becomes demonic and eats her boyfriends. Enough said.
4. “Secret Window”
This twisted flick based on the Stephen King novel will make you think twice about your next relationship. Plus you get to enjoy a wonderful performance by Mr. Johnny Depp. Yes, Please.
3. “Kill Bill Vol. 1”
Another action-packed film by Tarantino, this will leave you feeling less than lovey-dovey. Uma Thurman as The Bride wakes up from a coma and seeks revenge against the team of assassins who destroyed her chances at a happy life.
2.“Silence of the Lambs”
Hello, Clarice. Anyone who can watch a movie about cannibalism and still have love on the brain would be what I consider a hopeless romantic.
1. “Fatal Attraction”
This is the ultimate unhappy couple film. Michael Douglas tries to break it off with his mistress Glenn Close, but it doesn’t go as smoothly as he planned.

Finally! Something to do on that blessed day!
Some of these suggestions would make me want to sleep with the lights on and deadbolt the doors. Moreover, they wouldn’t make me want to meet someone just to have a date on Valentine’s Day. Touche’ on helping one forget about the day that some would rather not celebrate.
Well put and a whole lot more.
