SpartanEdge names new leaders

Diane IveyDiane Ivey becomes new editor - Diane Ivey is a junior journalism major, who has been with Spartan Edge since its beginnings in December 2005. She currently blogs as “The Spartan Sweetheart,” where she tackles real world issues; writing about tough topics like trashy romance novels, sex attractants and the geek lifestyle. Ivey said she is looking forward to moving Spartan Edge in a new direction, but hopes to adhere to the values upon which the site was founded. “I can’t wait to see what we’ll do next,” Ivey said. “I hope to continue to build a strong base of contributors, both with new members and our already amazing staff.” When she’s not writing, Ivey enjoys reading, watching movies and hanging out with friends. Ivey said the best thing any journalist can do is live for the story. “I try to step outside of my own boundaries and try new things,” Ivey said. “Everything and anything can become a story, you just have to have a sense of adventure.”

Thumb down

Jessica Lipowski becomes managing editor - Journalism major Jessica Lipowski says she's absolutely thrilled to take the position as the new Managing Editor of SpartanEdge.  She is hoping to expand the readership and gain more staff members.  “I am really looking towards a great year with a great group of people,” said Lipowski.  “Our circulation, simply over the semester, has increased.  I really hope we can gain even more respect and readership outside the university.”  Lipowski, who enjoys being outside whether snowboarding, backpacking or rock climbing, is looking forward to writing about unknown and controversial topics as well as exploring human-interest pieces.  “The best way to lead is by setting an example,” she said with a smirk.  “I will admit, though, I have a ton of energy.  Hopefully everyone can deal with that.”.

that it's OK to swear in news

goes for fake news as well.
Either that or we face a fine
in the millions and our entire
