The Strokes
First Impressions of Earth

RCA

The Strokes have made a career out of recording albums that sound as if they have just woken up hung over, mixed a new drink and stumbled into the studio just to record a few songs before their ice melted. If the new album proves anything, it is that those times are over. With an edgier sound, relying more on quick-paced rhythms (02. "Juicebox"), and somewhat metal-like lyrics (03. "Heart in a Cage"), The Strokes seem to have woken up from their slumber and learned how to play their instruments...really well at that.
